Beginnings are challenging. They entail dreaming of what could be, formulating plans, being willing to take risks, and giving up some beloved activities to put those dreams into motion.
Bob and I started Naughty Goat Acres with giddiness and wide-eyed enthusiasm—and a complete lack of knowledge or agricultural experience. Our journey brought us so much joy and laughter, new friendships, and plenty of “Super Star” moments. 😊
We embraced every challenge. I shed many tears when beloved goats left for their new homes and when our failures led to heartache. Some of my most beloved goats are buried here. There were long days, sleepless nights, difficult decisions, and plenty of lessons along the way. But there were also kidding seasons filled with anticipation, beautiful babies, goats that exceeded our expectations, show-ring successes, and the incredible satisfaction of seeing our breeding program develop year after year.
Somewhere along the way, these goats became much more than livestock. They became part of our lives, our routines, our stories, and our hearts. Each one has contributed something to Naughty Goat Acres, and many have left behind memories that we will carry with us long after they leave our farm.
And then there are the accomplishments that still make us stop and smile.
One of our homegrown bucklings blossomed into the 2025 National Reserve Champion Buck. So many of the babies born here have gone on to wonderful farms and earned Grand Champion points in the show ring. We are incredibly proud of those accomplishments, but our most heartfelt memories aren’t really about the banners or the points.
They are about the families who trusted our genetics.
They are about the people who believed in a Naughty Goat Acres goat, took one home, poured their own time and love into them, and went on to experience success in the show ring. Those stories mean more to us than we can adequately express. We still burst with pride when one of those memories surfaces. ❤️
We’ve met some truly wonderful people through this journey. Fellow breeders, exhibitors, families who purchased our goats, veterinarians who became our friends, friends who cheered us on, and people who became friends because of a shared love of these remarkable animals. We are incredibly grateful for every friendship, every conversation, every bit of encouragement, and every person who trusted us with one of our goats.
And now, after more than a decade, we’ve reached the end of this beloved challenge.
We’ve achieved far more than we ever imagined when we started. We’ve poured our hearts, our time, our laughter, and our treasure into making better goats each year. We are incredibly proud of the genetics we have developed and of what Naughty Goat Acres has become.
But endings also involve reflection—and recognizing when it is time to begin something new.
So, with a mixture of sadness, pride, excitement, and a whole lot of gratitude, we are announcing that we are selling all of our Naughty Goat Acres show-quality and breeding goats.
This is not a fire sale. Our goats are priced with the quality, genetics, and years of work behind them in mind.
We hope many of our goats will go on to contribute to other breeding programs and that a piece of Naughty Goat Acres will continue through the people who have believed in our animals.
And for those goats who don’t find new homes, that’s okay too. They will remain here as beloved pets, with Mini Cooper as their queen. ❤️
To everyone who has been part of our Naughty Goat Acres journey—thank you. Thank you for buying our goats, cheering for us, sharing our successes, commiserating with us through the hard times, laughing with us as we bumbled through the show ring, and most of all, for becoming part of our story.
We are closing one chapter, but we aren’t closing the book. We are so grateful for everything this adventure has given us and we look forward to turning our next crazy idea into reality.
